Two FOE Lecturers Elected as Fellow of IET & IEM

We are pleased to inform that two of Faculty of Engineering's (FOE) senior academic staff namely Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lee Ching Kwang and Dr. Shahruddin Muslimin were elected to Fellow of Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) United Kingdom and Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) respectively for their contribution to the engineering fraternity.

Dr. Lee Ching Kwang received his B.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from University of Kent at Canterbury, U.K., in 1982 and 1987 respectively. He began his career as a Research Fellow in microwave antennas-frequency-selective surface at University of Kent, United Kingdom from 1988 to 1990, and joined Electro-Octopic Group, Division of Radiophysics, Commonwealth Scientific Industrial Research Organisation, Australia as a Research Scientist where he was responsible for near-field range research from 1990 to 1991.

He began his 26 Years career (from 1990 to 2010) in academia as a faculty member of the School of Electrical Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore which ranked 11th in the World. He is also the Director of Graduate Institute of Engineering since March 2014.

Dr Shahruddin Muslimin has been with MMU since June 2011 and had more than 31 years of working experience before joining the University, He started his career as an Engineer when he joined Jabatan Telekom Malaysia (JTM), in 1987. He joined Telekom Malaysia (TM) when the operation of JTM was privatised in 1987. He retired from TM service athe the end of 2010, after holding more than 5 years the post of the CEO, TM Research & Development Sdn Bhd.

Prior to that he was the General Manager, Corporate Strategy & Planning of TM, from 2000 to 2005. While serving TM R&D, he was made a member of the Industry Advisory Panel (IAP) of UniKL (2007-2009) and the school of Elect & Electronics Engineering, USM (2007-2010). Dr. Shahruddin, who is a Professional Engineer with Practicing Certificate, is active in the activities of the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM), and the Board of Engineers, Malaysia (BEM) and has been a Principle Interviewer of the Professional interview of IEM and Professional Assessment Examination of BEM since 2009.
