DIT Students Visit the Zalora Regional e-Fulfillment Hub
On 21 September 2017, a group of 32 Diploma in Information Technology (DIT) students accompanied by four lectures from the Centre of Diploma Programme (CDP), Ms. Julie Yew, Ms. Tan Su-Mae, Ms. Lim Liyen and Ms. Ainee Suriani visited Zalora’s Regional eFulfilment Hub in Shah Alam.
They were led by Zalora’s Regional eFulfilment Hub Director, Mr. Vykintas Mineikis in a one and a half hour tour to the 470,000 square feet facility – approximately the size of nine FIFA football fields, which was launched early 2017. Mr. Yao Yong Leong, Supply Chain Manager of Zalora who is a former student of Faculty of Business (FOB) assisted the Director during the tour.
Students were briefed on the daily operations of the hub which uses in-house logistics and operations systems. With its enormous storage capacity to hold more than four million items at any time and reliable in-house systems such as Order Management System (OMS) and mobile picking, Zalora is able to fulfil thousands of orders per day across eight markets – Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Indonesia and Philippines. The visit had certainly opened up student’s view of Zalora’s global e-Commerce operations and innovative technologies.
