FAC Students Helped Promote 'Flag Day' Campaign in August
Throughout the month of August 2017, seven students from the Faculty of Applied Communication (FAC), led by Chong Zhi Ying, collaborated with The Salvation Army, a non-profit organisation, in a fund raising campaign for ‘The Flag Day’. Public contributions this campaign would enable this non-profit organisation to continue their tear-round efforts at helping those who would otherwise be forgotten.
During the campaign, student volunteers were stationed at several public places such as KL Sentral, Bukit Jalil and MMU Cyberjaya campus to sell Malaysia flags and collect donation from the public. Mr Jheevan Patrick, Public Relations Coordinator of The Salvation Army, expressed his appreciation to the Dean of FAC, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Madhubala Bavaharji for the student’s participation.
Besides helping people in need, the “Flag Day” campaign also helps to instil the spirit of patriotism among Malaysians as raising a flag is a good reminder to embody the spirit of nationalism. In addition, the students too have learned the skills involved in communicating with the public in a real-life setting.
