A talk session entitled ‘Climbing the Ladder: Insights from Economics Alumni’ organised by MMU Economics Society was held on 18 April 2023 via Google meet. Two alumni, Mr. Darren Go, Assistant Manager in Strategy and Transaction at Ernst & Young (EY), and Ms. Vanisa Sukhavudh Charun, who is currently employed by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), were invited to the event.
An opening keynote was addressed by Dr. Goh Han Hwa who is the Programme Coordinator of the Bachelor of Analytical Economics to help participants understand the value of the Economics Club at MMU. During the talk, the speakers shared their life experiences, including their time spent studying economics at university and also their professional journeys with other 99 students that joined this talk. Through the sharing, the students also acquired insightful understanding about how EY and BNM function. This talk session proved that MMU has produced graduates in the field of economics with a high quality because the course covered each of the required industry-related skills, such as Microsoft Excel and EViews, which are typically needed in the workplace.
