The Faculty of Management (FOM) welcomed back one of its accomplished alumni, Ms. Celestie Liew, as a guest speaker for the Auditing class on 14 May 2025. Ms. Liew, who graduated with a Bachelor of Accounting from FOM and was awarded Best Accounting Student in 2023, has since built a reputable career in the auditing industry. She is currently working as an Audit Associate at a leading international accounting firm. The sharing session was arranged by Dr. Sunita Lylia Hamdan and Ms. Rapiah Md. Zaini from the faculty.
During her session, Ms. Liew shared valuable insights into the real-world applications of auditing principles, drawing from her current professional experience. She emphasised the importance of ethical standards, critical thinking, and adaptability in the ever-evolving audit landscape. Her engaging talk, enriched with practical examples, offered students a rare glimpse into the daily responsibilities and challenges faced by auditors.
Students responded enthusiastically to Ms. Liew’s talk, with many noting that her journey—from a student to a successful Audit Associate while pursuing her ICAEW professional papers—was truly inspiring. The interactive Q&A session at the end provided students with deeper clarity on career paths, internship opportunities, and the skills needed to thrive in the auditing field. She also shared valuable tips on how she studied for the Advanced Auditing subject, in which she achieved an A+.
FOM extends its deepest gratitude to Ms. Celestie Liew for taking the time to give back to her alma mater and for motivating the next generation of accountants. Her visit not only strengthened the connection between industry and academia but also reinforced the value of FOM’s alumni network in shaping future professionals. The session concluded with a token of appreciation presented by Dr. Abby Ashraff bin Saprudin, Deputy Dean of Student Experience & Alumni (SEA), FOM.
