On 17 September 2025, the FET Alumni Committee organised a FET Alumni Sharing session featuring Mr. Muhammad Shahir Sayyid Bin Damanhuri who graduated from a Diploma in Telecommunication Engineering programme in 2009. The session was aimed at inspiring current diploma students by sharing real-world experiences and insights from his professional journey.
Mr. Muhammad Shahir began his career in engineering but soon transitioned into the IT field, driven by personal interest and aptitude. He gained experience working in various companies, including a transportation firm, before founding his own IT company, which specialises in server hosting and software development, primarily serving local clients and small businesses.
During the session, Mr. Shahir shared valuable insights into the challenges and growth of his company. He emphasised the importance of understanding client needs and building scalable, efficient systems. He discussed several client projects, including payment installment tracking, student attendance systems, and financial modules for fee management. His approach to development is highly client-centric, focusing on continuous improvement and responsiveness to feedback.
Mr. Shahir encouraged students to draw inspiration from his journey and highlighted the significance of practical experience and lifelong learning. He advised students, especially those in their first semester, to seize opportunities for growth and to remain open to exploring different career paths, with passion, perseverance, and adaptability are key to success in any field. The sharing session provided students with a unique opportunity to learn from a successful alumnus. Mr. Shahir’s journey from engineering to IT entrepreneurship serves as a powerful example of how one can navigate career transitions and build impactful solutions.
