The Faculty of Business (FOB) was honoured to welcome back two of its distinguished alumni, Mr. Joel Chee Jin Shen and Ms. Esther Kwong, who returned to campus to share their professional journeys and insights with current students.
Ms. Esther Kwong, Owner and Chartered Accountant of ThinkAhead Consultant Sdn. Bhd., delivered a talk titled “Accounting Isn’t Boring: Redefining the Industry as a Millennial Firm Owner.” on 22 September 2025. Through this session, she shared how she has transformed traditional perceptions of accounting by infusing creativity, innovation, and digital solutions into her work. She highlighted that accounting goes beyond numbers, where it is about solving problems, building trust, and supporting business growth. Students resonated with her candid reflections on entrepreneurship and her emphasis on adaptability and client-focused practices in a changing industry.
The following day, Mr. Joel Chee Jin Shen, founder of Jingga Film, returned to his alma mater for his session “Entrepreneurship in Media: Building a Personal Brand and Creating Value.” His talk focused on personal branding, value creation, and perseverance in the competitive media landscape. He emphasised on the power of storytelling in shaping good perceptions and establishing trust. Students actively engaged in the discussion, gaining practical advice on navigating uncertainties and transforming passion into a sustainable career.
Both sessions offered valuable lessons in entrepreneurship, adaptability, and leadership, while showcasing the diverse paths MMU graduates have taken in shaping their careers. Their success stories reflect the resilience, creativity, and determination that define MMU’s Permata Dunia.
