Dr. Kevin Koay Jun Yi

Dr. Kevin Koay Jun Yi who was born and raised in Penang started his study at MMU in 2004 in Bachelor of Engineering and later graduated from MMU in 2008 with a Master of Engineering Science.

Dr. Kevin is currently a Support Astronomer at the Academia Sinica Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics (ASIAA) in Taiwan and was part of the worldwide collaborative effort in finding black holes near the earth and more. Furthermore, he is an active member of the Event Horizon Telescope Collaboration, a team of astronomers which caught the first image of a supermassive black hole. The chance of his life is finally taking a visible picture of a black hole and watching as the event horizon unfolds.

On top of that, Dr. Kevin has published numerous peer-reviewed journal articles, magazine articles, conference proceedings and book chapters such as ‘To The Malaysian Scientist…’ which was published by Scientific Malaysian on 15th June 2015.
