On 9 July 2024, Multimedia University (MMU) received a visit from one of its distinguished alumni, Mr. Ko Chua Zhen, the co-Founder and Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the multi-award-winning Plus Xnergy (formerly known as Plus Solar). Mr. Ko, who graduated from the Faculty of Engineering (FOE) in 2008, has successfully established the company as an energy solutions provider specializing in monitoring and analysing the energy consumption of commercial buildings.
Prof. Dr. Wong Eng Kiong, Vice President of Student Experience and Entrepreneurship Development (VP SEED), and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ong Jeen Wei, Director of Alumni Engagement, Career, and Entrepreneurship Development, warmly welcomed Mr. Ko and his delegation to the Cyberjaya campus. The visit centred on discussions about a potential collaboration to install a solar photovoltaic (PV) system at both the Cyberjaya and Melaka campuses, particularly targeting courtyards and student learning centres to significantly reduce electricity consumption.
Additionally, Mr. Ko introduced Plus Xnergy Academy, the company’s corporate social responsibility arm, which offers free engineering workshops to MMU students. This fruitful engagement is expected to yield mutual benefits for both the university and its alumni.
